It’s no secret that Volleyball Beach is a great place to sink your toes in the sand, catch up with family andfriends, and even enjoy a cocktail while grabbing a bite to eat. Volleyball Beach has turned into the ultimate home away from home for many of our teams and the Itsy Bitsy Spikers have done just that!
They started playing at Volleyball Beach back in 1990. Terrie, a fourth grade teacher, and Don, retired, have been married 35 years. “We’re originally from Ohio, and when we first moved here, we had a friend that was from Ohio also living here, he asked us to play and we’ve been here eversince,” said Terrie. After 26 years, they have no plans of stopping anytime soon!
It started out with Terrie and her husband Don playing with friends. Their kids joined in as they grew up and now it’s become a family tradition! Terrie, Don and the kids along with a family friend play every Sunday night. Their children enjoyed the sport so much that they formed another team with their spouses that plays in a league just prior to the start time for the team they play on with their parents. “We also play softball Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights,” said Terrie. “We play a lot of sports together; it’s always been our thing!”
The Itsy Bitsy Spikers said the heated air dome at Volleyball Beach was exactly what the team needed during the cold winter months! “We used to play pick-up court volleyball in the winter before the dome went up, now we don’t have to!” said Terrie. The Itsy Bitsy Spikers’ favorite thing about Volleyball Beach is being able to get the whole family together for some quality time – plus everyone gets to let their competitive side out!
Come experience the fun of Volleyball Beach for yourself! Spring league sign-ups are now open and league play runs from March 26th through June 2nd, 2017. The dome will be down for the spring league, so grab your friends and family and get to Volleyball Beach and enjoy some fun under the sun!
