Meet the ‘That’s What She Set’ Team!
With 18 years of league play under their belts, That’s What She Set is one of Volleyball Beach’s most seasoned sand teams! Friday nights wouldn’t be complete without this squad hitting the courts with skill, heart, and camaraderie!

That’s What She Set Team
Tell us about the team.
Our team has eight members. Some of us played volleyball before we joined the leagues at Volleyball Beach, and some of us were brand-new to the sport. Our team formed over time as we subbed on various teams together before eventually creating our own.
What night(s) does the team play?
We always play on Friday nights in the B division, and a few of us play more competitively on Mondays. We love playing on Friday nights because it’s the perfect way to relax and unwind after a long work week. It’s active, social, and a great way to catch up with friends.
Do you have a favorite season to play?
Our favorite season to play in is the summer. It’s never cold out, and it’s always a great time!
Does the team ever play in the weekend tournaments?
Yes, we will play in a few of the weekend tournaments throughout the year and the Tournament of Champions at the end of each league season. Playing in the tournaments gives us an opportunity to not only meet new faces, but also reconnect with players we don’t get to see all the time!
Do you guys ever do stuff together outside of Volleyball Beach?
Yes! When bad weather cancels a league night, we will often go out together and do karaoke. We also like to get together for Chiefs watch parties.
Any food or drink recommendations?
We are big fans of the Spicy Beachballs (fried pepper jack bites) and the Mahomies shot.
What is your favorite thing about playing in the leagues at Volleyball Beach?
For us, it’s really twofold. The sport itself and the people. We love sand volleyball, but it is the people at Volleyball Beach who make it special. The community is really like a family to us. When you play a sport with people, you get to know them on a whole other level.
What advice would you give to someone who is new to Volleyball Beach?
Learn as much as you can and meet as many people as you can! People from all walks of life play in the leagues at Volleyball Beach, and you will definitely be able to find your people when you come here!
