Finding your place at Volleyball Beach can be a little intimidating, especially if you don’t have a team. Don’t be discouraged. Here are a few tips for joining in on the fun at the Beach!
If you’re a newbie about to plant your feet on one VBB’s 14 sand courts for the first time, a good place to learn the basics and get started is by looking over Volleyball Beach’s rules and getting familiar with how play at the Beach works. Next, you might want to review how the leagues are divided up by skill level, so you can be sure to join the one that matches your level of play. Volleyball Beach recently added a new league division so, if you’ve played before but it’s been a while, it might be a good idea to give this a quick check to make sure you’re in the right one.
Find A Player Forum
On the Volleyball Beach website, there is a whole page dedicated to connecting people with teams and teams with people: Find A Player. Here there are forums where teams post messages looking for extra players to complete their team. Additionally, there are forums where players post messages letting teams who are short a player know they are available to join (which is a great way to meet new people!). To use the forum, all you need to do is complete a quick registration form!
The Volleyball Beach KC Friends! Facebook Group
Another great place to connect with other Volleyball Beach players is on Facebook in the private group named The Volleyball Beach KC Friends! You’ll have to post a request to join, but it usually doesn’t take long to be approved. Once you’re in the group, you’ll see teams posting regularly looking for last-minute subs to join their team for league games – even that very evening. Make sure you know your play level so you offer to sub for teams that match your skill set. Members also frequently share upcoming tournaments and other volleyball events that you can take part in! This is a great place to start making new connections and meeting new players and even teams that you may later become a part of!
Stop By the Beach and Say Hello!
Of course you’e always invited to stop by Volleyball Beach on any league night and speak with a staff member about how to join! The person running the front desk will be able to answer any questions you may have. They can also connect you with a team that may need a sub for the night or be in need of a player to join their team. Many players have told us that subbing for teams who are short a player was the best way to meet and play with new people at the Beach!
